The Daily Grind
Café site with order-ahead and loyalty
A complete café website concept that takes orders before the kettle is on: browse the menu, add a flat white to the basket, choose a collection time and collect a loyalty stamp. Built to show what an independent coffee shop can have instead of a photo, a phone number and a PDF menu.
Working prototype designed and built by the founder, published on The Third Coconut, the local-business trading name of AadhiPixels Ltd.
Context
Most café websites are a photo, a phone number and a PDF menu. Regulars want to order ahead and be rewarded for coming back; owners want to change the menu without calling a developer.
- Status
- Working prototype
- Stack
- Next.js · React · Tailwind CSS
Scope
- Concept, art direction and interface design
- Order-ahead basket with collection-time selection
- Digital loyalty stamps
- Filterable menu by category with self-service updates in mind
- Local-first storytelling: roastery background, hours, directions
What works
- Real menu-to-basket flow with collection times
- Working digital stamp card
- Chalkboard-style menu with category filters
- Story, opening hours and directions on one page
Design and build decisions
- Cream and espresso palette with a serif display face so the site feels like the café, not like software
- Ordering and loyalty on the same page, because the same regular does both
Honest limitations
- The Daily Grind is a fictional business; there is no live café behind the prototype and no orders are taken
- Payments and stock are simulated in the demo
